Jesus Loves Me

I bet you sang the song, “Jesus Loves Me,” when you were a child. You know – “because the Bible tells me so – little ones to Him belong – they are weak – He is strong!” Now that you are all grown up, does that song still apply to you? Is it just a song we sing to children? Where in the Bible does it say He loves me? Did Jesus know all the stuff that’s happening in my life right now?

Great questions! This summer the women’s ministry at my church did a book club reading through “Woven” by Angie Smith. The book reviews MANY scriptures that show that the ENTIRE Bible is one unified story of how much God loves us! As I have studied these scriptures from January now to October with our Radiant Sisters, I can see quite clearly that all the Old Testament points to God’s plan to redeem mankind through His Son, Jesus Christ, and show us His PERFECT LOVE!

I’m sure if you turn on the TV or scroll social media, you’ll see some very different messages. This world is filled with chaos and discord. The “noise” is loud, and it comes at you from all sides! How can you know that Jesus loves you and wants to give you HIS peace throughout each day?

Open your Bible to John 14 – in verses 21, 23 Jesus tells us that if we love Him and obey His commands we will be loved by the Father and by Him! What is His command? Matthew 22:37-40 tells us: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…and love your neighbor as yourself.”

Much of what we see going wrong in today’s world is because people are not loving people as Jesus commanded. How can we? The list of items that divide us is ever-growing – politics, religion, health care, schooling - Is it all too much? But Jesus’ love SUPERCEDES ALL these things! Loving Jesus is not a “religion” it’s a RELATIONSHIP. A very personal relationship.

When we come to saving faith in Jesus, (confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9) we enter into a loving relationship with Jesus that can NEVER be broken! Jesus loves us so much that His sacrifice on the cross and your belief in Him is a bond that will last for eternity. Here’s what Paul tells us: “Who could ever separate us from the endless love of God’s Anointed One? Absolutely no one! For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish His love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven’s love… So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that His love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken His love. There is no power above us or beneath us – no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. Romans 8:35, 38.

You can rest fully assured that Jesus loves YOU and whatever gets thrown at you during the day will never change that fact. Our world, our country, our state, our neighborhoods have problems – but we can REST in the fact that Jesus loves us, and He will never leave us. He gives us His peace.

Sweet Sister, keep reading your Bible! Keep talking to the many women in the Radiant Sisters group. If there is something you don’t understand – REACH OUT! That’s what this group is all about- sisters helping sisters understand the Word. You may feel weak – but HE IS STRONG and together we can remind each other of His never-failing, never-ending Love.
