To the Momma Who...

Motherhood is filled with both joy and sorrow. There are days that your heart is so full that it cannot even contain the love, and there are days that you wonder how you and your children will survive until bedtime. Motherhood is the most challenging and rewarding thing I’ve ever experienced. This post is dedicated to the moms. The moms who sacrifice, serve, and give all day long and are still left wondering if they are enough for their children. This one is for you. Happy Mother’s Day.

To the momma who just tested positive for the first time and is nauseous all day long and complaining about each new symptom, yet simultaneously jumping for joy over each little kick, you are a good mom.

To the momma who is battling infertility and spending her days tracking cycles and dreading the next friend’s baby shower all the while maintaining unimaginable hope, you are a good mom.

To the momma who is in the midst of the newborn stage and is up all night long, missing who you were before this baby entered the world, yet simultaneously soaking up every single baby smile and snuggle, you are a good mom.

To the momma who is chasing toddlers around, answering 1000 unreasonable “why” questions, and wondering how you can discipline that child one more time while also laughing with unimaginable joy at their silliness, you are a good mom.

To the momma who lost her baby before even getting to meet that precious little soul and is grieving the loss of that little life while also feeling grateful for the beautiful time you shared together, you are a good mom.

To the momma whose babies have turned into 3rd graders and are overwhelmed with homework (after all, you already did 3rd grade yourself!), crying with your child after their first encounter with a bully, yet also showing up as their number one fan at the little league softball game, you are a good mom.

To the momma of a preteen who is being beaten down daily with the infamous 7th-grade sass or enduring the overwhelming Axe and B.O. aroma and is simultaneously in awe of the curiosity, strength, and depth that your child has developed, you are a good mom.

To the momma who is enduring her first Mother’s day without her child and is utterly overcome with grief and sorrow while also managing to hold fast to the memories and moments shared, you are a good mom.

To the momma whose teenagers have chosen the path of poor choices and have you awake and worried sick at 1 am wondering if they are okay while consistently offering them a safe place to return home, you are a good mom.

To the momma who is an empty nester for the first time and is relearning how to be herself and also overjoyed at the friendship you have begun to develop with your child, you are a good mom.

To the momma who recently became a grandmother and is guiding her child on the journey of parenthood and wishing she was spoiling those grandbabies every single day, you are a good mom.

To the momma who is spending her first Mother’s Day without her mom and is wishing for a few more words of wisdom and moments shared together, you are a good mom.

To all the mommas, you are so important. It is tempting to fall into the “I am not good enough trap.” Yet somehow, you keep this world spinning. You spend every single day of your life sacrificing for and loving on your children, and I know you would not have it any other way.

Moms, you are fabulous. Enjoy the day off. Goodness knows you deserve it.
